Finger Puppet Instructions (for Acorns charity)

As promised, eventually! I think this works - any problems ask me at the Pump House. :)


Snowman and Reindeer Finger-Puppet

Yarn: White or brown 4-ply; scraps of dk in colours for snowman scarf, paler brown 4-ply for reindeer antlers,
Embroidery Thread/wool – black for eyes, red and orange for noses
Toy stuffing
Hook: 2.5mm - 3mm
Optional: Stitch marker to mark beginning of rounds.

Work in Rounds:
Head:

R1: Ch 2 (or use a slip chain instead)
R2: Into 2nd chain from hook, working round: 6dc, ss into first dc, 1ch do NOT turn. (6dc)
R3: (increase) 2dc into each dc round (12dc)
Do not 1ch turn but work in a spiral, starting with the next dc:
R4: 1 dc into each dc below (12dc)
R5: (increase) [2dc into first dc, 1dc into next dc] 6 times (18dc)
R6: 1dc into each dc below (18dc)
R7: 1dc into each dc below (18dc)
R8: (decrease) [2dc tog, I dc] repeat 9 times (12 dc)
R9: 1 dc into each dc below (12dc)
R10: (decrease) 2dc tog 6 times (6dc)

Body:
R11: (increase) 2dc into each dc round (12dc)
R12: 1 dc into each dc below (12dc)
R13: (increase) [2dc into first dc, 1dc into next dc] 6 times (18dc)
R13 – length wanted: 1dc into each dc below (keep working in a spiral)
Fasten off. Sew in ends.

Reindeer antlers: (make 2)
Make one side of the antler then go back down the other side.
A1: ch 6
A2: ss into second ch from hook, ss into next ch
A3: ch 3
A4: ss into second ch from hook, ss into next ch
A5: ss into the remaining 3 ch you made in the ch 6 in A1
Fasten off, leave tail of yarn and use this for sewing onto head

Snowman + Reindeer:
Stuff head, embroider black eyes (French knot) and upside down v-stitch nose in orange for snowman, red nose (French knot) for reindeer.

Scarf:
Ch 30 or until you have a length of about 15cm.
Fasten off, trim ends of yarn. Tie round neck.
